Both bands are cross-genre success stories: Lotus' somehow-rave-o-tronic laptop-free instrumental indie rock bumps crowds into sweating lovely bliss, dual guitars tangling in exultant harmonies over frontman Jesse Miller's driving lead-bass; BLVD plays tight and straight, the SF trio dropping solid beats over which Colorado native MC Souleye spits fiercely inspirational rhymes.
